Pull-Test Load Rate Calculator: Time to Load and Load Steps

Enter the test load and the loading rate your spec asks for. The tool gives the time to reach the load, the rate in other units, and a timed table of load steps to read off during the test.

How it works

Time = (target load − start load) / rate, assuming the load rises at a constant rate. A rate per second is multiplied by 60 for the per-minute value. Steps divide the load evenly from the start load to the target, and each step's time is its share of the total. Unit factor is exact: 1 lbf = 4.4482216152605 N.

The tool does not choose the test load, the rate, the seating load or the hold time; those come from your spec or the standard it names. For the hold once the load is reached, and for the PASS/FAIL record, use the free pull-test record sheet. To turn the loads into gauge readings on a hydraulic tester, use the gauge pressure to load calculator.
