Displacement Under Load Check: Movement During the Hold

During a proof-load hold on an anchor or fixing, a dial gauge or LVDT is read at set times. Type the time and displacement at each reading: you get the movement since the start of the hold and the total displacement, with PASS/FAIL against the limits your specification sets. Print it with the test record.

Test details

The hold time, reading times and limits come from your specification or the standard it names; the tool does not set them. Nothing you type is uploaded or saved.

Movement during hold = last reading − first reading; total displacement = last reading; PASS when each is no more than its limit. Checked with the free tool at calyx-ai.net/qa/displacement-under-load-check/ (Quality Tester Solutions LLC). Signature: ____________________

How it works

The first row with both a time and a displacement is the start of the hold. For every later reading the tool shows the movement since that first reading and the change from the previous reading. Movement during the hold is the last reading minus the first; total displacement is the last reading as entered, so zero the gauge before loading if your limit is on total displacement. Each result is PASS when the value is no more than its limit; the overall result is PASS only when every limit you entered passes. Check: readings 1.20, 1.26 and 1.31 mm at 0, 2 and 5 min give 0.11 mm movement during the hold, which is FAIL at 0.10 mm and PASS at 0.15 mm.

The tool does not choose the held load, the hold time, the reading times or the limits, and it does not judge whether movement is slowing. Record the load and result for each anchor on the pull-test record sheet; the proof load is the factor from your spec times the working load, which the proof-test sample size and proof load calculator multiplies out, and the time to reach it from the load rate calculator. To time the hold and get a row at each reading time, use the proof-load hold timer; for a limit in the other unit, the displacement unit converter.
